LILIW TRIVIA
- LILIW was founded by Gat Tayaw in 1571.

- Liliw got its name from a bird. A crow came first but it is believed to bring bad luck thats why they decided to go south and a beautiful bird singing LIW, LIW, LIW alighted the pole that Gat Tayaw and his men erected in the southernpart of the town. It became LILIO during the American regime but later Resolution No. 38-S-65 which declared Liliw as the official name and spelling of the town.
- The Liliw town mayor then was called President. That’s why the Municipal Hall was used to be called Presidencia.
- The siren at the Municipio blew its whistle at 8:00am, 1:00pm and at 5:00pm everyday. Then the church bell rings at 6:00am, 12:00pm and the last one at 6:00pm for the Angelus prayers everyday.
- During the 1950′s, a splinter group of the Hukbalahap, called “Mga Tulisan” by the townfolks ransacked the town of Liliw, held up the Municipal Hall and the local bank. Gunfights between the tulisan and the P.C. (Philippine Constabulary) ,only seen in FPJ movies occured.
- Liliw bottled and produced its own brand of softdrink called Regal Root Beer.

- St. John the Baptist Church was built in 1635, nearly 300 years now…

- LILIW is the “Footwear Capital of the Philippines”

- It is the home of the very delicious Bonete, priced at P1.50, made by the very popular Juntaya’s Bakery. Best served with Kesong Puti or Sinantulan
